I embrace life. I am carefree but harmless. I am playful but serious. I am complacent but not indifferent. I am a bowl of contradictions, but that's the first thing that makes me interesting.

 Word for the day: NEW

We can learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull.
Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

Intel: Leap Forward

I'll be positive for a change...

Intel is the number one semiconductor comany in the world. Though our stocks dropped from ~$100 to ~$30, we are still earning millions. The reason the stocks dropped was due to the Y2K bug wherein ALL companies had dropped their stocks, especially semiconductor companies. But not looking at the stocks, i'd say that Intel is one of the best companies here in the Philippines.

Looking at our CompenBen (Compensation and Benefits), there are some stuff which is debatable and arguementative. But right now, i had learned that we do have an above-average T-Comp (Total Compensation: Cash and Benefits).

Just months ago, i tried to analyze my salaray, how i spend it, and what-if i work in Makati for some other company (let's say Shell, HP, or P&G).

Working and earning a living at Intel.
-Intel is in Cavite. So less gimmicks. Weekends lang. For a friday movie-then-coffee gimmick, ~Php500 is more than enough.
-We eat at the canteen during lunch hours. And i don;t have to spend much pa din kasi we have meal tickets. Though nauubos ko siya agad... Hehehe...
-I don't own a car so i have to commute. Pero we have shuttles naman.
-I don';t have to spend too much on clothes. Casual lang sa office: jeans and shirts. Pero i usually buy 1-2 shirts a month.
-I can take my MBA or MSIE. Supposed to be by 2006 magstart ako ng MSIE but i said to my manager, 2007 na lang.
-Syempre i have stock options. I can also buy stocks at a discounted rate. And hopefully, I can have RSUs after my focal review.
-After 1 year, nakapunta na ako ng US for 2weeks. Hopefully in 2006, punta ako ng Shanghai or Malaysia for our face-to-face
-Q3'06, if things go well as planned, and if kuhanin ako ni Arnoldo (or baka si Jay), i'll be working on our new product... in Arizona... for 6months (mali, 180 days lang pala at hindi 183 days).

So if i work in makati, definitely i have to spend more on my meals, my clothes and my gimmicks. Kahit na sabihin ko na marunong akong tumanggi, hindi pa din. Peer pressure is peer pressure. Or, lagi akong nag-pa-pa-peer pressure.

About the job, yes, mahirap siya. Pero the good thing about it is that I'm being tested. I'd say na lahat ng IE subjects ko sa UP (except for 183) eh nagamit ko na. From looking at white papers, to actually performing an analysis. Nagamit ko sya lahat!

Maybe somthing that my intern said made me realize how good Intel is. Cat told me that when she was an intern at a consumer company, her job was to photocopy some papers, pickup some documents, and... and.... pour water on the employees' glasses. SHIT! Here at Intel, she analyzed the work flow, came up with a system for JAFS, nag time study, nag-analyze at nag-analyze. Never ko syang inutusan na magtimpla ng kape or kumuha ng tubig or magphotocopy. Tsk tsk tsk.

Anyway, I'm still okay here at Intel. The trabaho can be hell, but the outcome can take you to heaven. I already presented an analysis to the factory manager and to the department managers. I had the opportunity to talk to BK during the ERSAhan (BK is the Big Boss). I even lead a team in the VF (Virtual Factory = China (Pudong and Chengdu) + Malaysia (Penang and Kulim) + Costa Rica. Exposure. Sigurado yan.

Well, i think it also depends to the individual. I've accomplished a lot, helped save millions of dollars for Intel, and making everyone happy (through my videos and my pang-aasar). Masaya pa naman ako, so dito muna ako until something better comes in.

Well, syempre, i won;t settle for anything less than what i have or what i can have today.
