the reason why people must not be too excited
I'm counting down the days for my US visa. Well, as of now, I'm still waiting for a PA appointment, then I'll ask for an early interview. I'm trying to beat the clock. But all I can do is to wait. I've submitted all my papers and requirements. If the normal process goes, I won't be able to get my Visa on time. If the PIP (Priority Interview Program) can be pulled-in more, I might get my Visa by next week.
If the US trip was announced earlier, then I won't be too frantic about anything.
Here's the story:
It was last July 15 when it was OFFICIALLY announced that I'll be representing the CMO IEs for this face-to-face meeting in Chandler, Arizona. Actually, Jay broke the news the day before the official announcement. Yes, I admit, I was somewhat excited. But knowing that (1) i don't have a passport, and (2) i don't have a Visa, made me wonder if i can be in Arizona on WW33 (August 8). Knowing that Visa applications take around 1 month. Sheeesh! But anyway, I tried not to be too excited. Konti lang! Hehehehe...
Then, we had dinner (July 15) at Don Henrico's in Festival (this time, I only ate one buffolo wing), the ATM IE Folks + Ria were giving me tips on my "US Trip." They we're also excited for me. Hehehe...
But now, though I have my passport, I still have to get a Visa. 2-5 days before the US Embassy can process my application, then 1-2 weeks for Visa processing. So they'll be releasing my Visa on the 15th of August. Damn!
Hmph!
Anyway, what I'm thinking right now is that, though I MIGHT (i still have 1week and 2 days) not make it to Arizona, at least I know that they value my contribution in this new system/database that we will be using in Q4'05. The opportunity came but it came on the wrokng time. The announcement came out late, they don't want to push-out the meeting, etc. Bitterness and some regrets might happen IF (again IF IF IF IF) I won't be able to make it in Az on time. But it will pass, a new opportunity will come. Maybe not in Az (but i hope there'll be another Az trip), maybe somwhere out there (beneath the pale moonlight... Haha!). Sayang!
Anyway, this is why people must not be too excited until you have that something you're dreaming or hoping for to happen. You have to see it to believe it, you have to be there to experience it. Opportunities come and go, that's why we have to grab it. But it will never assure you success nor failure. Just work on it and hope for the best. If not, there's always the next opportunity to grab. And will go on and on until you get what you really want.
