I embrace life. I am carefree but harmless. I am playful but serious. I am complacent but not indifferent. I am a bowl of contradictions, but that's the first thing that makes me interesting.

 Word for the day: NEW

We can learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull.
Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

December 31 2005

Right now, i'm thinking (and at the same time: daydreaming and fantasizing) about my new career...

If i were to be asked what i want to be right now, i want to be on marketing and advertising. I'm great at conceptualizing ads since college. I have tons of ideas on ads (print or tv ad). I took project and product management classes in college. I know marketing stuff, business management and industrial systems. I'm good at project based work and not oh-so-routine-type of work.

I'm working as an assistand brand manager. Analyzing the demand, the market, the supply chain, the advertising stuff needed, brand development, etc. I like the idea of analyzing things from top to bottom. Unlike what i do know, i always answer to what the other employees need. If i were to chose, i want to be the person telling a group of people what needs to be done.

I'm giving myself a deadline. By end of this year, i must decide what to do for my next chosen career. Here at Intel, I'm planning to go to ATD and become an EIT IE (IE for new products) OR work with ATM Systems (in which i believe I'm good at). I don't want to be an Operations IE anymore. Sucking up with people who doesn't even think. They always rely on IEs for a simple solution. Sometimes, they make the dumbest requests and here I am, I have to do a short analysis just to prove them that what they need is nonsense. It's either EIT or Systems. Plan B is to probably get out of IE and find a relocation outside the Philippines. Well, Plan B is low confidence. But it never hurts to try. PLAN C is to get the Systems position in our group.

Outside of Intel, i'm looking back at my list of companies in which i want to work for, or at least apply. I crossed out HP since i don't want the jobs they offered last year. I don't want to answer calls and trouble shot something, or customized a system. I underlined Philip-Morris, last time they were offering a Management Trainee position with an 18month contract tied up with it. I'm not fond of contracts, and the management trainee position is not a job at all. I applied for their business development team member postion but they said i still lack experience. I just told them that i am declining the offer for now.

Some of the companies listed in my black book are Procter and Gamble, Chevron-Texaco, Citigroup Financial, Boston-Consulting Group, etc. Maybe i'll try these companies and check if i could get in. I have nothing to lose. My resume looks great, i've been working for almost 1.5 years, i'd saved Intel millions of dollars, and i have groups in which i'm leading. Not bad right?

Anyway, December 31 2005 will be my target date. I need to fix my life. Fix everything before it's too late.
